Planting a Legacy for a Greener Future

Planting a Legacy for a Greener Future

Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Kenes, we believe in taking responsibility for our environmental impact. As we celebrate 60 years of innovation and excellence, we are also looking forward—to a future where sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.

To mark this occasion, we are thrilled to announce the Kenes Forest, a special initiative in partnership with Treebytree to restore degraded landscapes in Tanzania.

This project is our way of making a lasting impact—offsetting our 2025 business travel emissions while supporting reforestation, biodiversity, and local communities

Partnering with Treebytree to Restore Tanzania’s Landscapes

Treebytree is a global sustainability platform that connects businesses with on-the-ground nature restoration projects.

Empowering Communities

How does it work?

Our reforestation efforts are focused in Tanzania, a region where land degradation and climate change threaten both ecosystems and local livelihoods.

✔  Revitalizing Degraded Land – Vast areas in Tanzania are suffering from land degradation, threatening food security, biodiversity, and climate resilience. By regenerating trees, we are restoring ecosystems and bringing life back to the land.

✔  Empowering Local Farmers & Communities – Through Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), we work directly with farmers to restore trees that provide food, medicine, and shelter while improving soil health and water cycles.

✔  Creating a Lasting Environmental Impact – Regenerated trees help store CO₂, enrich the soil, and restore biodiversity, ensuring long-term benefits for both people and the planet.

By restoring trees in Tanzania, Kenes and its partners are contributing to a healthier planet for generations to come.

Our Goals & Impact

The Kenes Forest is here to make a real difference.

  • Restoring landscapes & ecosystems – The regenerated trees will revive soil, restore water cycles, and support wildlife.

  • Creating social & environmental impact – This initiative provides benefits to local communities while contributing to global climate solutions.

  • Support local farmers in Tanzania through sustainable land restoration.

  • Restore biodiversity and improve soil and water cycles.

Aligning with Global Sustainability Goals

The Kenes Forest directly supports key UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that drive meaningful change:

✔  SDG 3 – Good Health & Well-being
Forests improve air quality, provide spaces for relaxation and physical activity, and reduce stress, promoting both mental and physical health. Reforestation helps regulate temperatures, manage water resources, and reduce disease transmission—creating healthier environments for all.

✔ SDG 4 – Quality Education
Forests are natural classrooms, fostering environmental awareness and hands-on learning. By integrating nature into education and reducing time spent on basic necessities like food and fuelwood, tree-planting initiatives directly support better learning opportunities.

✔ SDG 5 – Gender Equality
Women play vital roles in forest management and agroforestry. Empowering them with resources and decision-making opportunities leads to more sustainable and equitable environmental initiatives, strengthening communities.

✔ SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption & Production
Sustainable forestry practices ensure responsible use of resources, reduce waste, and support recycling. By choosing eco-friendly products and promoting sustainable timber use, we can lower our environmental impact.
