Cape Town: An inspiring place to meet
Barring its obvious tourist appeal – breath-taking scenery, white sandy beaches, and rugged mountains, exceptional venues and unforgettable attractions – Cape Town boasts one of the most dynamic economies on the African continent and it is an outstanding business destination.
WHY VISIT AN EVENT TAKING PLACE IN CAPE TOWN
For conferences, there are many venues including city centre locations, as well as hotels, conference centres, lodges, wine farms, and guest houses set in beautiful countryside escapes. One of the major benefits of conferencing in Cape Town and the Western Cape is that there are so many ways to fill any spare time delegates may have, or to entertain clients, with plenty of attractions within close travelling distance.
Cape Town and the Western Cape is still proudly the number one destination for conferences in Africa according to the International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA) 2017 statistics.
Getting around
Cape Town International Airport offers direct flights to 21 international hubs such as London, Paris, Amsterdam, Dubai, Qatar, etc., with an average flying time of between 10 to 11 hours. Cape Town International Airport carries out regional flights via Johannesburg’s or Tambo International Airport.
Cape Town’s transport options are varied and suitable for all budgets. Cape Town has become a very bike-friendly city, with dedicated bike lanes in most areas and some of the world’s biggest cycle races are hosted there. Cape Town has several private bus companies and commuter bus services, as well as the City Sightseeing bus.
Hotels in Cape Town
As a popular destination, Cape Town offers a wide variety of accommodation options and has about 20,000 formal 3, 4 and 5-star hotel bedrooms. Most of these hotels are located within the City Bowl, Waterfront and Atlantic Seaboard areas, all in close proximity to the Cape Town International Convention Centre. There are also many deluxe boutique hotels, serviced apartments and B&B’s in the area.
WHY DO WE RECOMMEND CAPE TOWN
Cape Town and the Western Cape is the perfect choice for a meeting. It’s a destination that offers flexibility, diversity, and hands-on support. With custom-built centres designed to top international specifications, diverse range of facilities at hotels, educational institutions, and theatres, you are guaranteed a world-class experience.
One of our events that took place in Cape Town recently was the 31st International Papillomavirus Conference (HPV 2017). The event gathered over 1,200 researchers, clinicians and other health professionals to share knowledge and ideas on papillomaviruses and their associated diseases. Housed in one of the most prominent venues in the city, the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), we ensured a nurturing meeting environment for HPV 2017. The CTICC is also committed to minimising the event impact on the environment, supporting the organisation of sustainable events.
