EAPS 2025: A New Era in Global Paediatric Collaboration Begins in Lisbon

The 11th Congress of the European Academy of Paediatric Societies (EAPS 2025) is a milestone in the global effort to advance child health. Taking place on 18–20 October 2025 in Lisbon, Portugal, this year’s congress marks the beginning of a new chapter, as EAPS transitions into an annual event.

This evolution reflects the growing need for regular, in-depth exchange among pediatric specialists from around the world. For Kenes Group, EAPS is a flagship event that exemplifies our mission to build platforms for knowledge sharing that drive real-world impact in healthcare.

Uniting the Global Pediatric Community

Since its founding in 2006, EAPS has established itself as a premier forum for science, clinical advancements, and interdisciplinary collaboration. With participation from some of the world’s most respected pediatric societies, the 2025 edition is set to be the most comprehensive yet.

Collaborating Societies:

EAPS 2025’s new strategic partnerships are setting the stage for significant future growth and expanded reach.

ESCAP – European Society for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

ESID – European Society for Immunodeficiencie

PNAE – Paediatric Nursing Associations of Europe

SIOP – International Society of Paediatric Oncology

These partnerships ensure that EAPS 2025 will span a broad spectrum of sub-specialties—from neonatal and adolescent medicine to pediatric oncology and mental health—making it the ideal platform for pediatric professionals seeking to deepen their expertise and broaden their networks.

A Programme Built for Impact

The theme of EAPS 2025, “Uniting Expertise, Advancing Care”, speaks to the congress core mission. Attendees can expect:

  • Expert-led scientific sessions covering breakthrough research and clinical innovations

  • Interactive workshops that translate knowledge into practice

  • Global networking opportunities across disciplines and borders

  • A spotlight on young investigators, providing emerging talents with an international stage to present their work

Innovations at EAPS 2025

EAPS 2025 integrates new technologies to enhance efficiency, accessibility, and delegate satisfaction—setting a new standard for international medical congresses.

  • AI Abstract Assistant – Offers real-time, AI-driven feedback to improve abstract clarity and submission quality.
  • AI Session Summaries – Delivers concise, real-time scientific recaps, improving content accessibility and knowledge retention.
  • Facial Recognition for Badge Printing and Badge Pre-Ordering – Enables fast, contactless check-in via automated kiosks and simplifies arrival with app-based badge collection in just seconds.
  • Digital E-Tickets – Centralises access to all congress activities within the event app—no printed vouchers needed.
  • E-Posters – Expands abstract visibility through interactive digital stations and mobile access.

These features, implemented by Kenes Group, ensure that all attendees—onsite or online—spend less time managing logistics and more time engaging with science, innovation, and community.

Why Lisbon?

Lisbon is more than a picturesque European capital—it’s a city deeply rooted in medical progress, particularly in the care of children. The birthplace of Portuguese paediatrics, Lisbon has long been a symbol of both compassionate care and scientific advancement.

In the late 19th century, Lisbon saw the opening of Dona Estefânia Hospital, the first dedicated paediatric hospital in Portugal. It marked a pivotal moment in the history of children’s medicine in the country. Today, Portugal’s paediatric care is among the most advanced in Europe, with impressive outcomes reflected in some of the continent’s lowest child mortality rates.

Set against this rich legacy, Lisbon offers EAPS 2025 the ideal backdrop for the global paediatric community to gather, reflect, and shape the future of child health together.

Kenes Group Wins IAPCO Innovation Award 2025 for Groundbreaking AI Training Course

Empowering Knowledge Through Innovation

At Kenes Group, innovation isn’t just a strategy — it’s a mindset. As we celebrate 60 years of transforming medical education, we are proud to share that one of our own has been recognised on the global stage for redefining how healthcare professionals learn and grow.

Nuria Fernandez, Online Education Specialist at Kenes Group, has been awarded the IAPCO Innovation Award 2025 for her visionary work on AI-Powered Simulation Training: Mastering Sensitive Discussions on Weight Management.

Presented by IAPCO President Sissi Lignou at the IMEX Frankfurt Gala Dinner on 21 May, the award honours bold ideas that spark real-world change across the meetings and professional education industry.

Reimagining Medical Training with AI

Nuria’s award-winning course, hosted on UNLOK Education —

our proprietary digital learning platform — is a breakthrough in online learning. In just 15 minutes, it equips healthcare professionals to improve the way they approach emotionally sensitive conversations with patients, particularly those living with chronic conditions like Type 2 Diabetes.

The simulation blends actor-led scenarios with emotional recognition AI that analyses facial expressions, tone of voice, and engagement. Based on this real-time feedback, users receive personalised guidance to improve both verbal and non-verbal communication.

“We saw the potential to use emotional recognition AI to help healthcare professionals handle conversations with their patients more sensitively and without judgement,” said Nuria Fernandez. “This technology provides an opportunity for self-reflection and growth in a way that traditional training does not.”

Global Reach, Real Impact

Topics like weight and chronic illness are often difficult to address — and traditional medical training rarely prepares professionals for the emotional nuances involved.

This course creates a safe, reflective environment where healthcare professionals can build their empathy, communication, and confidence — resulting in better patient experiences and improved outcomes.

Launched during the ATTD 2024 Congress, the course has already attracted over 300 healthcare professionals worldwide and has earned praise for its human-centric, tech-forward approach.

With more scenarios and modules planned, this is just the beginning of Kenes Group’s efforts to use AI-powered learning to enhance patient care globally.

Celebrating 60 Years of Innovation

As we mark six decades of empowering knowledge, this recognition is a testament to our enduring mission: pushing boundaries, embracing transformative technologies, and creating lasting impact for the industries and communities we serve.

Congratulations, Nuria, and thank you for helping us advance healthcare education.

Kenes Group Unveils New Branding as Part of 60th Anniversary Celebrations

Kenes Group, a global leader in Professional Conference Organisation (PCO), Association Management (AMC), and Continuing Medical Education (CME), proudly announces the launch of its refreshed brand identity. This significant transformation, marking the company’s 60th anniversary, underscores Kenes Group’s unwavering commitment to innovation, expertise, and empowering knowledge within the events industry.

The rebrand, unveiled as part of this milestone year, is a visual and strategic evolution designed to reflect the company’s growth, pioneering spirit, and forward-looking vision.

“At Kenes Group, we are always exploring new ways of disrupting and pioneering the industry, whether it is through how we develop our business, through our technological innovations, or our public image,” said Ori Lahav, CEO of Kenes Group. “Our new branding is a statement of both legacy and innovation, a tribute to the image that has accompanied countless event teams for decades and a fresh start of what we expect will be more decades to come, empowering knowledge with our leadership.”

A Brand That Reflects Kenes Group’s Journey and Future

The rebranding process was a creative journey spanning nearly a year. Kenes Group collaborated with three design agencies and reviewed over 30 unique proposals before arriving at a concept that truly represents its heritage and ambitions. The new brand identity retains the iconic red colour, symbolising passion, focus, and energy while introducing a refined logo with modern, organic shapes that reinforce the company’s dynamism and forward-thinking ethos.

“The decision to refresh our brand was not one we took lightly. It was driven by the need to reflect our position as a leader in innovation, expertise, and empowering knowledge within the event planning and association management industry,” explained Milush Bahanov, Global Marketing & Communication Manager. “Our new brand needed to capture the energy and vision of Kenes today while staying true to the values that have built our reputation over 60 years. It had to tell the story of our growth, our expertise and our pursuit of excellence.”

A Thoughtful and Meaningful Evolution

One of the key elements retained in the refreshed branding is the Kenes Swoosh (a curved shape that represents growth, movement and energy), an integral part of the company’s identity that symbolises continuous progress, learning, and innovation. Initially introduced in previous iterations of the logo, the Swoosh remains a powerful emblem of Kenes Group’s journey from a modest beginning to a global industry leader. “Today, I am proud to say that we have a brand that not only reflects who we are but also who we aspire to be,” Bahanov added.

A Legacy of Excellence, A Future of Possibilities

For 60 years, Kenes Group has set industry benchmarks in PCO, AMC, and CME services, consistently delivering exceptional experiences for professional communities worldwide. The rebranding signifies not just a visual change but a reaffirmation of the company’s mission: to empower knowledge, foster collaboration, and drive innovation in global events and association management.

“We believe this is more than just a new look—it is a symbol of our continued evolution and our ambition for the future,” said Lahav. “We invite our partners, clients, and stakeholders to embrace this transformation with us as we continue to shape the future of knowledge exchange and professional events.”

PTCOG 63 to Highlight the Launch of Argentina’s First Proton Therapy Center

– A Breakthrough for Cancer Treatment in Latin America

The 63rd Annual Conference of the Particle Therapy Cooperative Group (PTCOG 63), organized by Kenes Group, will take place June 2–7, 2025, in Buenos Aires, gathering leading experts in particle therapy. This year’s event coincides with a major regional milestone: the launch of Argentina’s first Proton Therapy Center (CeArP – Centro Argentino de Protonterapia), a flagship project advancing cancer treatment and research in Latin America.

CeArP will be the first proton therapy center in Latin America, marking a significant leap in medical innovation. Equipped with the Proteus Plus system, featuring Pencil Beam Scanning and IMPT, it will offer cutting-edge, highly precise cancer treatments while serving as a hub for research and development.

“The opening of Argentina’s first Particle Therapy Center marks a significant milestone for cancer treatment in Latin America. The first proton therapy center in South America reflects the commitment of the region to advancing medical innovation and expanding access to cutting-edge therapies. As the global community gathers for PTCOG 63 in Buenos Aires, we celebrate this important step forward in harnessing particle therapy to improve patient outcomes worldwide.”
Prof. Marco Durante, Ph.D., PTCOG President

CeArP: Transforming Cancer Treatment in Latin America

A collaboration between CNEA, UBA, IBA, and INVAP, CeArP is set to redefine cancer treatment in the region.

Unlike conventional radiotherapy, proton therapy minimizes damage to healthy tissues, making it ideal for tumors in critical areas like the brain, head and neck, and lungs, as well as for pediatric patients who are highly sensitive to radiation side effects.

“The Argentine Proton Therapy Center, the first of its kind in Latin America, will become a regional reference for clinical and scientific research in particle therapy, being associated with prestigious medical and technological institutions known for their strong academic, scientific, and technological achievements: the National Atomic Energy Commission, the Roffo Cancer Institute of the University of Buenos Aires, and the Garrahan Pediatric Hospital.”
Gustavo A. Santa Cruz, PTCOG 63 Local Organizing Committee (LOC)

At CeArP’s core is the C230 cyclotron, a 230-tonne particle accelerator installed within a radiation-shielded bunker.

“This is a very important milestone because the cyclotron is the main machine of the Argentine Center for Proton Therapy. Gantries will be installed in the coming days, which are the structures through which proton beams are directed to the patients. We estimate that the first tests could start in the second half of 2025.”
— Luis Rovere, CNEA Vice President

The 8,000-square-meter facility, located next to the Nuclear Diagnosis Centre Foundation (FCDN) and across from the Ángel H. Roffo Institute of Oncology, will serve both clinical and research purposes. It will also feature LAIDEP (Laboratory for Research & Development in Proton Therapy), further expanding expertise in the field.

“The Argentinian project has been conceived as part of a national health program to establish centers for cancer diagnosis and treatment in different regions of the country. In addition to the installation of the proton therapy system, which is already in its final phase, other tasks such as training human resources, ensuring efficient clinical operations, guaranteeing high-quality technical services, updating and upgrading the system throughout the facility’s lifecycle, and developing a research program will be challenges to undertake. These efforts will pave the way for similar projects in developing countries.”
Alejandro Mazal, Centro de Protonterapia Quironsalud, Spain

Bridging Borders in Particle Therapy at PTCOG 63

As Latin America’s first-ever PTCOG-hosted conference, PTCOG 63 will bring together global and regional leaders to explore proton therapy, carbon ion therapy, clinical applications, and research innovations.

Key Highlights:

Educational & Scientific Sessions – Gain insights from global experts on physics, clinical applications, biology, and emerging innovations in particle therapy.

Keynote & Industry Symposia – Hear from thought leaders and industry pioneers on the latest advancements in cancer treatment.

Networking & Collaboration – Connect with clinicians, researchers, and industry leaders at receptions, facility tours, and dedicated networking events.

Exhibitor Lounge & Sub-Committee Sessions – Engage with leading companies and participate in focused discussions shaping the future of particle therapy.

With 4,000+ PTCOG members and 100+ facilities worldwide, this year’s conference will be a key platform for advancing innovation, collaboration, and patient access.

Join Us in Buenos Aires!

As PTCOG 63 coincides with the launch of CeArP, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the dawn of proton therapy in Latin America. We invite the global particle therapy community to be part of this historic moment and help shape the future of cancer treatment in the region.

We believe in the ability to make a change in the world, we believe in people, and that is part of what brings us forward. It is one of those values that is embedded in our DNA. The family feeling and the bonding were carved by hours and hours of hard work. Think about it – it’s not natural. We have different cultures here from different offices, we are not sitting together, and we still build, through hard work and despite current challenges, friendships that were created while striving towards a common goal.
