
The Asian medical community together with internationally renowned anaesthesiologists, clinicians and researchers in the fields of total intravenous anaesthesia and target controlled infusion eagerly await the 3rd World Congress of Total Intravenous Anaesthesia and Target Controlled Infusion, TIVA–TCI 2011.
This biennial congress, and a World Society of Intravenous Anaesthesia (WorldSIVA) event, is set over three days, and previously took place in Venice, Italy in 2007 and Berlin, Germany in 2009. The TIVA-TCI method of anaesthesia - which has received approval in Europe and Asia - highlights the disparity between developed countries where anaesthetic –related mortality rates stand at approximately 0.01%, compared to 1–10% in developing countries (according to the WHO Guidelines for Safe Surgery, 2009).
